| Established in 1948 in Seoul, Korea, Dongwha has it¡¯s
foundations in sawmilling and lumber. During the seventies
the company converted their labour-intensive lumbering
business into a technology-intensive and high-profit business.
Over the next twenty years several plants were acquired
or completed which extended their base in manufacturing;
plywood, pulp, MDF, resin, wax and formalin, laminates,
flooring, doors and overlay films. A specialised Research
and Development centre was registered in 1997.
In October 2003, the company was converted into an
operating holding company through a split-off, to strengthen
transparency in corporate governance, centralise core
competence management, and enhance corporate value.
Since that time Dongwha have further acquired Goldenhope
Parquet of Australia, Hansol of Korea Asan Kun line,
and in 2005, the Patinna mill. The Patinna mill began
existence in 1986 as a greenfield site and has been
built to suit the stringent Resource Management Act
conditions that apply in New Zealand. We are as proud
of our environmental standards as we are of our product
quality. Quickly establishing itself as a top-quality
MDF producer Patinna production specialises in thin
and high density products. With 90% exported to the
USA, Asia, and Japan our products are constantly in
demand.
Recognition of the paramount importance of the customer
is embedded in the three parts of the Dongwha Corporate
Philosophy; Customer Satisfaction, Innovation, and Respect
for People. The Patinna brand symbolising Partnership
and Innovation fits Dongwha¡¯s philosophies like a glove.
